Alex Daniel began playing the drums at age 7. As a kid, he mastered sight-reading, concert snare, and kit drumming through a combination of private lessons and the school band. Weaned on 80s heavy metal, Alex still gets a charge from Judas Priest, Iron Maiden,  Dio, The Scorpions, W.A.S.P., and the like.
After moving to the Bay Area in 2001,Alex joined 6:AM in September 2002...where he earned the name "FOOD". "I remember doing a show in San Jose during the holidays and looked back at Food to see him eating a burrito and still playing the drums" recalls Johnny. JD accounts "He was always bringing snacks and Mc Donalds or whatever into rehearsals and never gaining a pound... son of a bitch!" For over  two years Food played some of the bands most memorable shows, including his first performance with the band... THE BONE MORNING SHOW, which came just a few short weeks after he joined.

After Alex left 6:AM in the summer of 2004, he joined the excellent folk rock band, The Bay Penny Boys. When that group disbanded in February 2005, Food was heartbroken….for about two days, when he was offered to join the prog-rock trio, The Hands of Time, where Food’s creativity was put to its best exercise. Food left the band in September 2007. Food rejoined 6:AM in August 2009 after having not played a single note in almost two years. All though 6:AM's member have been multiple time nominees for various BANDS4BANDS awards...Food is a winner of the B4B BEST DRUMMER AWARD!
Outside of music, Food is a hospital worker, U.S. Navy veteran, and college expellee. He is a happily freelance student of history and a fan of niche sports leagues, particularly women’s football.

“There’s nobody as hypocritical as a rock musician who cries, “Capitalism is evil!” - Food
